November 2007 - MexicoThe association “Cultura y Arte para Chiapas”, the Town hall of Comitŕn, Chiapas and AIESM, International Association of Monumental Sculpture Events, organized the 3. International Symposium of sculpture that took place in Comitan, Mexico from the 4 to the 22 of November 2007.
The sculptures have been realized in stainless steel.
The organization of the symposium received projects from different countries, among which a local jury selected the proposals of the following artists:
Alex Labejof - France, Francisco del Toro Uribe - Mexico, Alber De Matteis - United States, Franco Daga - Italy, Jorge Romeo - Italy, Kenji Takahashi - Japan, Manuel Eduardo Solis - Argentina, Jorge De Santiago - Mexico, Xavier Gonzales - Spain, Yoshin Ogata - Japan, Luis Aguilar - Mexico (organizer), Tomas Lara - Cuba, Carlos Monge - Mexico.
The sculptures have been created in a laboratory open to the public in the city of Comitan.
Wide publicity has been given to the event by T.V. and press.
At the end of the event the realized sculptures remained ownership of the town hall of Comitan and they entered to belong to the future "Museum of Contemporary Art of the South."
