AIESM, International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events, promotes the sculpture and the sculptors at international level.

One of the proposals of A.I.E.S.M. is the organization of International Symposium of Monumental Sculpture. A sculpture symposium is a workshop, which allows a limited number of artists from different cultures to gather and create sculptures dealing with a pre-established theme (such as specific concept, technique, or material). While this event encourages intellectual and professional exchange among artists, it also creates opportunities for local people to participate, enhancing their understanding of contemporary art.
Monumental sculpture is a three dimensional object designed and executed by an artist and which is similar to a work of architecture in terms of scale. The material used for the sculptures will vary, depending on material availability and the preferences of the symposium sponsors.
Through the organization of these events, the Association, in accordance with its goals, propose to donate a variety of monumental sculptures to city administrations or private corporations. These sculptures will be executed in the context of an international sculpture symposium, hosted by the city administration or private corporation interested in acquiring art.
The methodology for organizing a sculpture symposium has been developed. Many administrations and private corporations world-wide have benefited from this process in a variety of ways:

City Administrations:
- furnishing certain urban areas with monumental sculptures inserted in entertainment or cultural sites attended by local people.
- creating cultural events in which local people and artists coming from different countries meet and discuss about art.

Private companies:
- furnishing certain areas of their plants with works performed by artists who are internationally known.
- offer artistic solutions using materials of their own catalogue (companies that deal with steel, wood, concrete etc).
- creating a cultural event for certain important occasions (like the 50th or 100th anniversary etc.).

GOALS

• Donation, to city administrations or private corporations, of monumental sculptures that will become their permanent artistic legacy.

• Creation of an International Art Event that will attract tourism and/or customers:
The symposium will offer tourists and customers:
- the spectacular “ live “ creation of monumental sculptures.
- the possibility to meet professional international artists at work.
- the possibility to attend public lectures and presentations from professional international artists.
- the possibility to visit the collective exposition of professional international artists.

• Promotion and publicity of the event, especially in the countries represented by the international artists participating in the symposium.

• Offer to the students the possibility to meet and work togheter with professional international artists during an event with a strong educational character.

• Creation of a cultural exchange and collaboration between international artists and local artists.
The symposium will give the opportunity for artists to share experiences, concepts and information about their artistic activity.
This occasion will give also the opportunity for participating artists to start a collaboration at International level.
