April 2006 – Costa RicaEdgar Zuniga, AIESM manager for Costa Rica and the city of Alajuela organized from the 3rd to the 16th of April 2006 the IV International symposium of Monumental Sculpture "Alajuela. Ciudad Civica."
31 projects received in representation of well 17 Countries have been viewed by a jury composed by: Nancy Calderón, Human Development Process - José Alfred Ulloa, Executive Producer - Fabián González, Architect - Fernando Zamora, Municipality - José Manuel Salazar, Architect
Edgar Zúñiga, Sculptor and Manager of the Symposium - Luis Arias, sculptor - Donald Jiménez, sculptor - Nancy De Camillas, sculptress and publisher of the Art Magazine USA - José Francisco Castro, sculptor - Adolfo Núñez, Sculptor .
The jury selected for the participation to the symposium the projects of the following artists: Diana Manni, Italy - Alber De Matteis, U.S.A. - Claude Millete, Canada - Vincent Di Vicenzo, France - Anthony Fage, Canada – Heinz – Treiber, Representative of the city of Larh (twin City of Alajuela), Donald Jiménez, Costa Rica.
Artists worked for all the duration of the symposium on the public plaza of the "Parque del Cementerio" in Alajuela, meeting the local public and students of various schools and institutes.
The sculptures realized on stainless steel during the symposium and inspired to the struggles for the independence of Costa Rica, remained exposed in the park for one month and then have been permanently installed on public spaces of Alajuela. The event have been largely publicized by TV and press.
