July 2005 - Luxembourg

Florence Hoffmann, A.I.E.S.M. Manager for Luxemburg, organized together with the Group “Animation Gare” the 5° Gare Art Festival 2005, which took place from the 24th to the 31st of July in Luxembourg. Strongly publicized on National newspapers and T.V., in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, this Festival has seen the creation of sculptures on the Plaza of the railway’s station in Luxemburg City by professional artists with a daily public of 30.000 travellers and visitors.
In 2001 and 2002 sculptures have been realized in wood. In 2003 and 2004, sand has been selected as material for the creation.
For the fifth festival 2005 the material has been the calcareous stone of Tetange.
47 artists in representation of 14 different countries have participated in the selections of the festival. The jury selected for the participation three local artists and three international artists, members of AIESM.
These are the local artists: Florence Hoffmann - Luxemburg with the project: "Pietà", Schiltz Michel - Luxemburg with the project "Couple", Star Sylvain - France with the project "Régénérations."
These are the three international artists, members of AIESM, selected:
Lele Trabb - Argentina with the project "Abrazo", Mayer Roland - Germany, with the project "Open Sphere",
Markwort Wayne - United Kingdom with the project "Angel: the burden of hope."
All the artists worked for one week on the public plaza of the railway’s station in Luxemburg with a great inflow and interest of public. The works realized during the event remained exposed in the plaza of the railway station of Luxemburg until the end of August 2005. They have been permanently installed subsequently in public areas of the surrounding districts.
