ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM 2016 - INDIA

Deadline: 1st November 2015

Program of residence for artists from 10th of January 2016 to 9th of April 2016. 6 arttists will be selected. Artists will be staying at 3 places chosen by the residency team, for 20 days at each place. During the stay at each place artists will have an opportunity to travel around, see interesting places of the area, enjoy local festivals, to know more the culture of the particular place.
There are 3 types of the crafts chosen for the residents to discover during the 60 days – one craft of indigenous people, one an ancient craft of India and one craft which is assimilated to nowadays craft culture.
It will be chance for the artists to be introduced to Dokra casting, metal work, stone carving, bamboo craft, wood carving, terracotta, golden straw work, rope making, wild silk making, jacquard weaving, palm leaf etching techniques and artists. To see tribal wall paintings, to hear where does the Saura paintings come from and to get experience which Odisha culture brings.
